Volleyball receives
commitment from six players
GOLDEN, Colo. (May 14, 2008) - Six student-athletes have
committed to begin playing volleyball for Mines in 2008, as announced
today by Head Coach Jamie Skadeland. "I am really looking forward
to this freshman class coming in next fall," said Skadeland. "They
are all talented athletes with great attitudes and work ethics, and
they will raise our competitive level providing depth in all positions."

CSM track & field squad establishes
four school records at Western State Last Chance Meet in Gunnison
GUNNISON, Colo. (May 11, 2008) - The CSM men's and women's
track & field teams sent several student-athletes to compete at
the Western State Last Chance Meet on Sunday, May 11th, at the Mountaineer
Bowl in Gunnison. The Orediggers set four school records, including
two by Jennifer Picucci (long jump, triple jump), one by Ian Storz (long
jump) and one by Kaity Edmiston (400m hurdles). MORE

Ast, Matsuda named to RMAC Baseball All-Tournament
Team
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (May 9, 2008) - The sixth-seeded
N.M. Highlands University Cowboys defeated #5 seed Colorado School of
Mines by the score of 12-6 in an elimination game of the 2008 RMAC Baseball
Tournament on Friday afternoon, May 9th, in Grand Junction. CSM's Cory
Ast and Craig Matsuda were both named to the 2008 RMAC Baseball All-Tournament
Team. The Orediggers' berth as the #5 seed in the 2008 RMAC Baseball
Tournament marked the first time that CSM had qualified for post-season
play since the 1999 RMAC Baseball Tournament. With 20 wins in 2008,
CSM established the third-highest single-season number of victories
in program history (28 in 1999, 22 in 2002). Furthermore, Nick Walker
established a new CSM individual single-season record for hits with

CSM golf lands three on Academic
All-RMAC teams
GOLDEN, Colo. (May 7, 2008) - Three student-athletes from
the Colorado School of Mines men's golf team have been recognized on
the 2007-08 Academic All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, as
announced today by the RMAC. Chris Carey, was named First Team Academic
All-RMAC, Bill Moore garnered Second Team Academic All-RMAC laurels
and David Kultala earned recognition on the Academic All-RMAC Honor

CSM's Lagen named to All-RMAC
Softball Tournament Team
GOLDEN, Colo. (May 4, 2008) - Fort Lewis defeated Adams State
by the score of 5-2 in Championship Game #2 on Sunday afternoon, May
4th, at the CSM Softball Field to win the 2008 RMAC Softball Tournament
Championship. Adams State defeated the UNK in Sunday's first game to
advance into Championship Game #1 against the Skyhawks. The Grizzlies
proceeded to register a 5-3 victory over FLC to force Championship Game
#2. FLC's Jenna Peters drove in three and Cary Moone went the distance
as the Skyhawks defeated Adams State in the weekend finale. CSM's Jackye
Lagen was named to the All-Tournament Team. MORE
