MINES BASEBALL FALLS TO METRO STATE, 11-3

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines baseball team dropped the opener of a four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series to Metro State, 11-3, on Friday afternoon at CSM Field.

The Orediggers (12-31, 4-13 RMAC) received a 2-for-3 day at the plate with three runs batted in from sophomore catcher John Naccarato (Parker, Colo./Chapparel). Four other CSM players tallied one hit apiece.

Sophomore southpaw Michael Svejcar (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) took the loss and fell to 1-4 this season. He went six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits and struck out one.

Metro State (21-23, 6-10 RMAC) was led on offense by Jake Palmer who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and a run scored. Nate Christiansen was 2-for-4 with three runs and a solo home run (4).

Ryan Bright (5-3) picked up the win as he limited CSM to six hits over eight innings. He fanned two.

The two teams will continue their series on Saturday afternoon with a pair of seven inning games at CSM Field. First pitch is slated for 1:00 pm.
