MINES BASEBALL FALLS TWICE TO METRO STATE GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines baseball team dropped a pair of games to Metro State in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at CSM Field. The Roadrunners took game one, 9-2, and won the finale, 11-3. The two teams will conclude their four-game series on Sunday morning with a single nine-inning game slated to begin at 10:00 am. In today's twinbill, CSM freshman centerfielder Nick Walker (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Wheat Ridge) went a combined 3-for-6 with a run and an RBI. Sophomore Kevan Dee (Haxtun, Colo./Haxtun) took the loss in game one and fell to 0-2, while senior Kevin Barrett (Lafayette, Colo./Centaurus) lost the nightcap and slipped to 4-7 this season. Both pitchers threw complete games. Metro State's (23-23, 8-10 RMAC) Clint Cleland went a combined 4-for-8 with seven runs batted in, three runs scored, two doubles and a homer in the two games. Jason Hanna threw a complete-game, four hitter in the opener to earn the win and improved to 3-4, while Mike Bilek went six innings in game two and limited CSM to four hits to earn the win (2-3). -- OREDIGGERS -- |
