MINES BASEBALL DROPS FINALE TO METRO, 10-8 GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines baseball team lost the final game of a four-game series to Metro State, 10-8, in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Sunday morning at CSM Field. The Roadrunners ended up with a four-game sweep. Junior third baseman Joel D'Cristina (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo Central) led Mines on Sunday as he went 3-for-5 with three runs batted in, a run scored and a double. Junior centerfielder Mike Ott (Louisville, Colo./Monarch) was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Sophomore Matt Thome (Espanola, N.M./Los Alamos) took the loss in his first start of the 2005 season. He lasted 5 2/3 innings, giving up nine runs, seven earned, on 10 hits and struck out three. Metro State (24-23, 9-10 RMAC) was led by Clint Cleland who was 5-for-5 at the plate with three runs and two RBI, while Logan Pape went 4-for-4 with three runs and drove in two. Sergio Moreno (5-3) picked up the win as he threw seven innings in relief. He allowed six hits and five runs (two earned) and fanned five. CSM (12-34, 4-16 RMAC) will return to action next weekend when it travels to Mesa State for a four-game RMAC series. The opener will be on Friday night at 7:00 pm. -- OREDIGGERS -- |
