MINES BASEBALL LOSES FOUR AT CSU-PUEBLO

PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines baseball team dropped all four games at Colorado State-Pueblo in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action over the weekend at Rawlings Field. The four-game series was the RMAC opener for both squads.

CSM (8-21, 0-4 RMAC) dropped both games of Friday's twinbill, 3-0, and 11-4, and then lost a pair of games on Sunday, 8-3, and 7-1.

Junior pitcher Vince Ruscetta (Westminster, Colo./Standley Lake) pitched well in the series opener for Mines as he threw a complete-game (six innings), allowing just three hits and three runs, two earned. He also fanned three batters.

Junior Brady Romberg (Aurora, Colo./Grandview) also threw well in the finale as he pitched a complete game (eight innings), allowing 12 hits and seven runs (six earned).

The Orediggers could not muster up much offense for the second straight series as it hit just .225 in the four-game set. Freshman second baseman Matt Owens (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Thunder Ridge) went 5-for-14 (.357) with two runs and a double to lead the way.

Senior leftfielder Ryan Roth (Hesston, Kan./Hesston College) went 4-for-12 (.333) with a pair of doubles and drove in two runs, while freshman rightfielder Will Dickinson (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley) also drove in two runs.

Mines will return to action Friday when it hosts Nebraska-Kearney at 3:00 pm at CSM Field.
