CSM BASEBALL GOES 1-3 AT REGIS

DENVER, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines baseball team posted a 1-3 record during its four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series at Regis University over the weekend. Regis opened the series with a pair of wins on Friday, 11-3 and 22-15, and also won the first game of Saturday's twinbill, 8-6.

The Orediggers (11-24, 3-9 RMAC) managed to pick up a win in the series finale, 9-7.

In the win, senior Kevin Barrett (Lafayette, Colo./Centaurus) picked up the win as he went all nine innings. He improved to 4-5 on the season and it was also his team-leading fourth complete game of the season.

Freshman centerfielder Nick Walker (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Wheat Ridge) had another big series at the plate for CSM as he went 7-for-16 (.438) with three runs, a triple and five runs batted in. Walker, who has hit safely in eight straight games, is now hitting .500 (16-32) over that stretch.

Senior second baseman Matt Fritzinger (San Antonio, Texas/Central Catholic) went 5-for-9 (.556) with two runs, two doubles and four RBI over the weekend.

Mines is slated to return to action this weekend when it hosts New Mexico Highlands for a four-game series at CSM Field. The first game is slated for Friday at 3:00 pm.
