MINES BASEBALL FALLS TO REGIS, 9-5, IN NONCONFERENCE GAME GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines baseball team dropped a 9-5 decision to Regis University in nonconference baseball action on Wednesday afternoon at CSM Field. The game was scheduled for nine innings, but was called after eight due to darkness and rain. CSM (12-30, 4-12 RMAC) sophomore catcher John Naccarato (Parker, Colo./Chapparel) hit a two-run homer in his only plate appearance of the day, while freshman shortstop Caleb Rudkin (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI. Six different Orediggers recorded one hit apiece. Sophomore Kevan Dee (Haxtun, Colo./Haxtun) took the loss for CSM in his first start of the season and fell to 0-1. He pitched three innings and allowed four runs, two earned, on four hits and fanned two. Regis (21-21, 4-12 RMAC) received a 2-for-5 day at the plate from Etienne Materre. He also drove in three and scored one time. Dan Kozloski went 2-for-4 with a run and two runs batted in for the Rangers. The Rangers used eight pitchers in the game and the win went to starter Tim Didjurgis who retired all three batters he faced in the first inning. He improved to 6-4 this year. The eight combined to limit Mines to six hits and five runs, three earned, while striking out 10 batters. Mines is slated to return to action on Friday when it hosts Metro State for an RMAC nine-inning contest at 3:00 pm at CSM Field. -- OREDIGGERS -- |
