CSM BASEBALL TOPS KEARNEY, 11-10, IN TEN INNINGS GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines freshman rightfielder Will Dickinson (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley) hit a one-out, walk off double to lift Mines to an 11-10 victory over Nebraska-Kearney (10 innings) in the opener of a four-game series with Nebraska-Kearney in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Friday at CSM Field. Freshman centerfielder Nick Walker (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Wheat Ridge) opened the bottom of the tenth with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by senior third baseman Stephan Krier (Sterling, Colo./Sterling). That set up Dickinson's heroics. Dickinson finished the game 2-for-5 with three RBI, a double and a homer, while freshman shortstop Caleb Rudkin (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) went 2-for-5 with three RBI and scored a run. Dickinson also made a spectacular diving catch in rightfield for the third out in the top of the ninth with the bases loaded. It marked the first RMAC win for Mines since a 13-4 win over UNK on May 4, 2003. Junior Brady Romberg (Aurora, Colo./Grandview) earned the win as he pitched the final two innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. Paul Schleifer took the loss for UNK. The Lopers were led on offense by Gerald Sell who went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday with the first pitch slated for 1:00 pm. -- OREDIGGERS -- |
