CSM BASEBALL SPLITS TWO GAMES WITH YORK

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines baseball team split a nonconference doubleheader with York College on Saturday at CSM Baseball Field. The Orediggers lost the opener, 13-6, but rebounded to win game two, 9-8, in eight innings.

In game two, junior centerfielder Mike Ott (Louisville, Colo./Monarch) registered a one-out single in the bottom of the eighth to provide the Orediggers with the win. Sophomore Matt Thome (Espanola, N.M./Los Alamos) earned the win in the finale as he struck out the side in the eighth inning.

In the opener, York scored five runs in the seventh inning to earn the win.

Mines (1-1) freshman rightfielder Will Dickinson (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley) finished the twinbill 5-for-7 with two home runs, four runs and five runs batted in.

The two teams will play another doubleheader Sunday beginning at 11:00 am at CSM Field.
