MINES GOLF COMPETES AT FORT HAYS STATE

HAYS, Kan. - The Colorado School of Mines golf team competed at the 36-hole Fort Hays State Invitational on Sunday at Smoky Hill Country Club and at the 18-hole Tom Johansen Invitational on the same course Monday morning.

The Orediggers placed second of six teams in Sunday's 36-hole format with a total of 632 strokes. Fort Hays won the team title with a 596 total. Oklahoma State Panhandle tied Mines at 632 and was followed by Regis (633), Northwestern Oklahoma State (635) and Colorado Christian (722).

Sophomore Mark Vallee (Louisville, Colo./Monarch) and senior Ryan Regier (Fort Worth, Texas/Boswell) each tied for ninth place with a total of 156.

In Monday's 18-hole event, the Orediggers posted a fourth place finish out of six teams with a total of 309. Fort Hays won the team title with a 293 and was followed by Regis (303), Oklahoma Panhandle (308), Mines, NW Oklahoma State (313) and Colorado Christian (357).

Junior Steve Greene (Westminster, Colo./Standley Lake) led the way for Mines as he tied for sixth place with a 75 (37-38).

Mines will return to action on Sunday and Monday when it co-hosts the CSM/Regis Invitational. Sunday's action will take place at Bear Creek CC and Monday's round at Fox Hollow G.C.
