MINES GOLF COMPETES AT SPRING REGIONAL

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Colorado School of Mines golf team competed at the 2005 Spring Northwest Regional Tournament on Monday and Tuesday at the par-71 Firethorne Country Club. The squad played 36 holes on Sunday and finished with 18 holes on Monday.

Mines shot a total of 962 to place ninth of 13 teams.

Junior Steve Greene (Westminster, Colo./Standley Lake) and freshman Chris Carey (Wooster, Colo./Wooster) led CSM as they tied for 27th overall with a three round total of 240. Green fired rounds of 77, 81 and 82, while Carey posted 82, 82 and 76.

Minnesota State won the team title with a 919 and was followed by CU-Colorado Springs (921), St. Cloud State (923), Fort Lewis (932), Colorado State-Pueblo (933), Regis (935), Nebraska-Kearney (937), Fort Hays State (939), Mines, North Dakota (965), Augustana (971), Adams State (986) and South Dakota (989).

The event concluded the regular season for Mines and the team will now wait and see if its scores from the fall and spring regionals will qualify them for the Super Regional Championships.
