MARK VALLEE PLACES 15th AT SUPER REGIONALS LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines senior golfer Mark Vallee (Louisville, Colo./Monarch) placed 15th at the 2007 NCAA Division II Super Regional Championships contested Monday through Wednesday at Fox Hollow Golf Course. Vallee opened with an even par 71 on Monday before finishing with rounds of 78 and 71 for a three round total of 220. It was the third straight season Vallee has participated in the Super Regional Championships. The event concluded the 2006-07 season for the Orediggers. -- OREDIGGERS -- CSM GOLF FINISHES SIXTH AT SPRING REGIONAL HEAD TO HEAD COMPLETE HOLE BY HOLE (Top 10 Finishers Only) PARKER, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines senior golfer Mark Vallee (Louisville, Colo./Monarch) birdied the 17th hole and then chipped in for an eagle on the par-5 18th hole en route to a final round 74 to claim first place by one stroke at the 2007 Northwest Regional Head-to-Head Championships contested Monday (36 holes) and Tuesday (18 holes) at The Pinery Country Club. Vallee's three round total of two-over par 218 (71-73-74) gave him medalist honors over Eric Winder of UC-Colorado Springs by one shot. Winder shot three consecutive 73's for a total of 219. Winder's Mountain Lion team did claim the team title with a three-day total of 883 to outdistance second place CSU-Pueblo which shot 895. St. Cloud State (904), Minnesota State-Mankato (906), Western New Mexico (908), Colorado School of Mines (916), Regis (917) and Nebraska-Kearney (918) rounded out the top eight teams at the spring regional. CSM senior Travis Reilly (Louisville, Colo./Monarch) played his best tournament of the spring as he tied for 14th place overall. Reilly fired rounds of 77-74-73 (224). The top eight teams, determined by the aggregate scores of the fall and spring regional head-to-head tournaments, will advance to the Super Regional Championships on May 7-9 at Fox Hollow Golf Course. The winner of that tournament qualifies for the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament on May 22-25 at Allendale, Mich. In addition, the top five individuals not on the eight qualifying

CSM GOLF FINISHES FOURTH AT RMAC CHAMPIONSHIPS LONGMONT, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines golf team placed fourth of eight teams at the 2007 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Golf Championships contested Monday and Tuesday at the par-72 Ute Creek Golf Course. The teams opened with 36 holes on Monday and finished the tournament with 18 holes on Tuesday. CSM senior Joe Ronevich (Wintersville, Colo./Steubenville Central Catholic) led the Orediggers as he tied for 11th place with a 228 total (75-78-75). His 75 in Tuesday's final round was tied for the second lowest of the day. Western New Mexico fired rounds of 281-291-312 (884) to win the tournament by one stroke over UC-Colorado Springs (290-290-305 - 885). They were followed by CSU-Pueblo (910), Colorado School of Mines (917), Regis (919), Nebraska-Kearney (922), Fort Lewis (924) and Colorado Christian (952). Marcus Molina of Western New Mexico took home medalist honors with a three round total of two-under par 214 (69-71-74). CSM GOLF FINISHES THIRD AT OWN INVITATIONAL COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines golf team placed third at the CSM Invitational contested Sunday and Monday. The teams opened with 18 holes on Sunday at Bear Creek Country Club and played 36 holes on Monday at Buffalo Run Golf Course. Northern Colorado won the event with an 898 and was followed by Regis (927), CSM (930) and Colorado Christian (937). CSM senior Joe Ronevich (Wintersville, Colo./Steubenville Catholic) led the Orediggers as he finished second overall with a three round total of 225 (76-76-73). His 73 in the final round tied him for low score of the round. Teams played 36 holes on Monday and concluded the tournament with 18 holes on Tuesday. CSM was led by senior Mark Vallee (Louisville, Colo./Monarch) who tied for 19th place as he shot a three-round total of 228 (74-76-78). CSM will return to action on Apr. 1-2 when it hosts the CSM Invitational. CSM GOLF FINISHES 3rd AT NORTHERN COLORADO INVITATIONAL GREELEY, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines golf team finished third at the Northern Colorado Invitational contested on Sunday and Monday. The teams played 36 holes on Sunday and 18 more on Monday at the par-70, 6,637-yard, Greeley Country Club. CSM senior Mark Vallee (Louisville, Colo./Monarch) led the way as he finished in 13th place with a three round total of 228 (80-76-72). Junior Zach Swanson (Cheraw, Colo./Cheraw) was tied for 17th with rounds of 74-80-79 (233). The Orediggers finished with a total score of 920 (309-307-304). CSM GOLF FINISHES 8th AT RMAC CHAMPIONSHIPS BRIGHTON, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines golf team placed eighth at the 2006 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships contested Monday and Tuesday at Riverdale Dunes Golf Course. Colorado Christian served as the host school. The teams opened with 36 holes on Monday and played the final 18 on Tuesday. UCCS won the team title with a three-round total of 845. The Mountain Lions were followed by Western New Mexico (872), Fort Lewis (888), Nebraska-Kearney (896), Colorado Christian (900), Regis (914) and Colorado School of Mines (921). Individually, CSM senior Mark Vallee (Louisville, Colo./Monarch) placed 18th overall as he fired rounds of 76-75-73 (224). Senior Joe Ronevich (Wintersville, Ohio/Steubenville Central Catholic) tied for 23rd with a total of 229 (78-73-78). CSM fired rounds of 328-314-333 for a three round total of 975. UC-Colorado Springs won the event with 928 and was followed by St. Cloud State (938), Fort Lewis (942), CSU-Pueblo (946), Western New Mexico (949), Minnesota State (951), Nebraska-Kearney (952), Regis (958), Augustana and South Dakota (963), North Dakota (965), Colorado Christian (971), and Colorado Mines. CSM GOLF PLACES SEVENTH AT CSM TRIANGULAR ARVADA, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines golf team placed seventh at the CSM Triangular contested Sunday through Tuesday at the par-72 Westwoods Golf Course. The participating teams played 18 holes each day. Grand Canyon won the event with a three round total of 877, just one stroke ahead of Fort Lewis who finished with an 878. Regis and Colorado State-Pueblo tied for third at 891 and were followed by Nebraska-Kearney (902), Colorado Christian (938), Colorado School of Mines (941) and Regis "B" (963). Individually, Fort Lewis' Luke Tanner fired rounds of 69-69-67 (205, -12) to earn medalist honors. CSU-Pueblo's Andrew Hedrick finished second with a three round toal of 212 (70-75-67), while Miles Philpy of Regis claimed third at 214 (73-72-69). CSM junior Zach Swanson (Cheraw, Colo./Cheraw) was the highest Oredigger finisher as he placed 14th. Swanson fired rounds of 72-80-73 (225). Senior Mark Vallee (Louisville, Colo./Monarch) tied for 21st with rounds of 76-78-79 (233).
