CSM WOMEN'S SOCCER TOPS JOHNSON AND WALES, 2-0 GOLDEN, Colo.- The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team concluded its inaugural season with a 2-0 nonconference win over Johnson and Wales at Brooks Field on Saturday morning. Junior forward Rachel Grabski (Manitou Springs, Colo./Manitou Springs) gave the Orediggers a 1-0 lead 13 minutes into the match on a tally off an assist from freshman midfielder Ashley Laughlin (Sevierville, Tenn./Sevier County). Freshman defender Caitlyn Ruegger (Gainesville, Fla./PK Yonge DRS) added a penalty kick at the 81:19 mark for CSM's second goal of the match. The win ends CSM's season at 7-8 overall. -- OREDIGGERS -- CSM WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATED BY BELLEVUE 1-0 GOLDEN, Colo.- In what was a cold and rainy game, The Colordao School of Mines women's soccer team was unable to come up with a victory this afternoon losing 1-0 to Bellevue University (Bellevue, Neb.). Bellevue was the only team to get on the scoreboard this afternoon, scoring there first and only goal of the game 20 minutes into the first half. The Bruins goal came off of a shot that bounced off of Mines goalie, Marissa Burson. Bellevue player Pricillia Flores happened to be in the right place getting the rebound and directing into the net. The Orediggers out shot the Bruins 10-7 but were unable to find the back of the net. Mines returns to action when they face Johnson and Wales in their final game of the season. Game time is set for 7:00 pm on Saturday October 22 at Brooks Field. -- OREDIGGERS -- CSM WOMEN'S SOCCER UNABLE TO GET WIN AGAINST CSU-PUEBLO,2-1 GOLDEN, Colo.- The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team put the pressure on tonight but was unable to come up with the win against Colorado State University-Pueblo. The Orediggers lost to the Thunderwolves 2-1. Going into half both teams remained even with a 0-0 score. CSU-P came out in the second half scoring two goals both by sophomore Robin Hayes. Mines did not give up as freshman Caitlyn Ruegger (Gainesville, Fla./PK Yonge DRS) connected with senior Liz Major (Englewood, Clo./Cherry Creek) off of a corner kick with sevenminutes remaining in the game. Mines continued the pressure but ran out of time and was unable to send the game into overtime. The loss puts the Orediggers record to 6-7 on the season. Mines returns to actino this Sunday at Brooks Field when they play Bellevue University, game time is at 1:00 p.m. -- OREDIGGERS -- CSM WOMEN'S SOCCER LOSES AT NM HIGHLANDS, 3-1 LAS VEGAS, N.M - The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at New Mexico Highlands on Saturday afternoon. The Orediggers only goal was scored by senior forward Liz Major (Englewood Colo./Cherry Creek). She now leads the team in goals this season with six. The loss drops CSM to 6-6 for the season. The women return to action Tuesday, October 4 when they play CSU-Pueblo at Brooks Field at 7:00 pm. -- OREDIGGERS -- CSM WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT ADAMS STATE, 3-0 ALAMOSA, Colo. The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision at Adams State this afternoon in nonconference action. This afternoon was the second match up for the two teams this season. The first time at home, Mines lost 1-0 in overtime. The Orediggers ended the game with 18 shots. The loss puts the Orediggers 6-5 overall while the Grizzlies improve to 6-6 for the season. CSM continues its play on the road on Saturday when it travels to New Mexico Highlands in Las Vegas, N.M. Game time is set for noon. -- OREDIGGERS -- CSM WOMEN'S SOCCER DOMINATES IN 9-1 WIN OVER JOHNSON AND WALES GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team came away with there second win against Johnson and Wales tonight with a 9-1 victory. This was the second time mines played J&W beating the Wildcats the first time 8-0. Senior Liz Major (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) had a hat trick on the night scoring the Orediggers first two goals early in the first half. Major went on to score another in the second. Six other players also had goals on the night. Mines will hit the road this weekend when they travel to Adams State to face the Grizzlies on Friday and then to Las Vegas, New Mexico on Saturday. Adams State beat the Orediggers last time 1-0 in overtime. -- OREDIGGERS -- CSM WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO CARROLL COLLEGE, 3-0 BILLINGS, Mont. - The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decison to Carroll College in nonconference action Sunday afternoon. After a scoreless first half, Carroll College (6-2-1) tallied all three of its goals in the second half, including the first two by Kate Horak. CSM sophomore Marissa Burson (Farmington, N.M./Piedra Vista) recorded seven saves in goal. The Orediggers (5-4) are slated to return to action on Wednesday night when they play host to Johnson and Wales at 7:00 pm at Brooks Field. -- OREDIGGERS -- CSM WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT MSU-BILLINGS, 1-0, IN OVERTIME BILLINGS, Mont. - The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team fell to 5-3 overall with a 1-0 overtime loss at Montana State-Billings in nonconference action Saturday afternoon. After a scoreless 90 minutes of regulation, the Yellowjackets (6-2-1) received the game-winning goal from Brittany Sandau off an assist from Jenny Moellendorf at the 91:50 mark of the first overtime. MSU-Billings outshot the Orediggers, 18-6, while CSM sophomore Marissa Burson (Farmington, N.M./Piedra Vista) posted seven saves. Megan Plank recorded two saves for the Yellowjackets. CSM returns to action on Sunday afternoon when it plays Carroll College at 1:00 pm at MSU-Billings. -- OREDIGGERS -- CSM WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS JOHNSON AND WALES 8-0 GOLDEN, Colo - The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team improved their record to 5-2 tonight as they defeated Johnson and Wales 8-0. CSM had eight different players score tonight, while goalkeeper Marissa Burson got her third shutout for the season. Mines went into halftime with a 3-0 lead over the Wildcats. In the second half the Orediggers continued the pressure scoring five more goals. The Orediggers will return to action September 24 when they travel to Montana to face Montana State- Billings. -- OREDIGGERS-- CSM WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS COLORADO CHRISTIAN 3-0 GOLDEN, Colo - The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team came away with their fourth win of the season tonight after defeating Colorado Christian 3-0 at Brooks Field. Goalkeeper Marissa Burson had her second shutout of the season, saving three shots. Rachel Grabski got the Orediggers off to a quick start with her goal three minutes into the game. Makayla Buenger and Liz Castro also had goals during the second half. CSM (4-2) will return to action September 17 when it hosts Johnson and Wales at 7:00 pm at Brooks Field. -- OREDIGGERS-- CSM WOMEN'S SOCCER TOPS MINNESOTA STATE-MANKATO, 3-2 GOLDEN, Colo - Colorado School of Mines freshman Makayla Buenger (Evergreen, Colo.) scored with just six minutes remaining to give the Ordiggers a 3-2 victory over Minnesota State- Mankato Friday night at Brooks Field. CSM senior Liz Major (Englewood, Colo.) tallied up two goals on the night while freshman Liz Castro (Littleton, Colo.) had an assist. Scoring for the Mavericks were Carly Peterson and Lauren Peterson in the second. The victory for CSM improves their overall record to 3-2 while the Mavericks fall to 0-3. CSM will return to action on Monday when it host Colorado Christian at 7 p.m. -- OREDIGGERS -- CSM WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT #11 REGIS, 4-0 DENVER, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team fell to 2-2 overall this season with a 4-0 loss at Regis University, the 11th ranked team in Division II, on Tuesday afternoon at Regis Field. The Rangers (1-0) scored all four of thier goals off corner kicks and tallied two in each period. Kate Murphy led the way as she notched a goal and two assists. Tara Kirkpatrick, Katie Jardine and Mary Luttropp also scored goals, while Meghan Thompson registered two assists. CSM sophomore Marissa Burson (Farmington, N.M./Piedra Vista) was credited with six saves, while Ranger goalkeeper Joanna Humphreys posted one stop. The Orediggers are slated to return to action on Friday night when they host Minnesota State-Mankato at 7:00 pm at Brooks Field. CSM WOMEN'S SOCCER TOPS USC-UPSTATE, 3-2, IN DOUBLE OVERTIME GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines freshman midfielder Ashley Laughlin (Sevierville, Tenn./Sevier County) scored with less than two minutes to play in double overtime to give the CSM women's soccer team a 3-2 victory over South Carolina-Upstate in nonconference action Sunday afternoon at Brooks Field. CSM (2-1) raced out to a 2-0 lead at the 12:43 mark of the first half thanks to a pair of goals from freshman forward Kacey Miller (Superior, Colo./Fairview). Miller's first tally came 1:47 into the match and her second came 11 minutes later. USC-Upstate (0-2) cut the deficit to 2-1 six minutes later on a goal from Samantha McClay and tied the match with six minutes to play as Brittanee Gourdine scored. CSM freshman goalkeeper Marissa Burson (Farmington, N.M./Piedra Vista) posted five saves, while Spartan keeper Diana Wabnitz registered six. The Grizzlies (1-0), who are in their third year as a program, received the game-winning goal from Amy Volutro less than three minutes into the second 10 minute overtime session. Sarah Johnson assisted on the tally. CSM (1-1) sophomore goalkeeper Marissa Burson (Farmington, N.M./Piedra Vista) posted nine saves in the losing effort, while Grizzly goalkeeper Heather Boyd made six saves. The game, which went into overtime, was the season opener for both teams. After a scoreless 90 minutes of regulation, CSM freshman defender Caitlyn Ruegger (Gainesville, Fla./PK Yonge DRS) put the game-winning goal on the board via a penalty kick with 28 seconds to play in the first overtime.
