CSM SOFTBALL SWEEPS STERLING

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines softball team won a pair of games over Sterling College in nonconference action Friday afternoon at CSM Field. The Orediggers won the opener, 4-1, and won game two, 11-0.

In game one, CSM (14-10) scored three runs in the third inning highlighted by a two-run double from junior catcher Andi Eickelman (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo East). Junior rightfielder Tyler Farley (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West) finished the game 2-for-2 with a run scored.

Senior Melanie Mahoney (Erie, Colo./Colorado State) picked up the win for Mines and improved to 10-5. She went all seven innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out four and walking one.

In the finale, Mines erupted for seven runs in the second inning as Mahoney belted a grand slam to lead the way. Freshman first baseman Lauren Rogers (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Thunder Ridge) led the offense as she went 3-for-3 with two runs and drove in two more.

Senior Kim Kilmer (Stoneham, Colo./Prairie) went four innings for Mines, allowing two hits and struck out four. She earned the win and moved to 2-4 this season.

CSM will return to action when it hosts Adams State for an RMAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 12:00 pm at CSM Field.
