MINES SOFTBALL POSTS 4-4 MARK ON SPRING BREAK TRIP

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Colorado School of Mines softball team posted a 4-4 record during its 2005 Spring Break Trip to Tucson, Ariz., from Mar. 21-24. Following is a complete list of results from the trip.

Freshman shortstop Stacie LaRocque (Erie, Colo./Monarch) led the way offensively as she went 15-for-26 (.577) with a double, a homer and eight runs batted in.

Senior Melanie Mahoney (Erie, Colo./Colorado State) batted .444 (12-27) with a pair of doubles, a homer and nine RBI, while junior centerfielder Brittany McKenzie (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo South) went 6-for-17 (.353) with an RBI.

Mahoney also led the way on the mound as she went 3-1 with a 1.25 earned run average and 29 strikeouts. Senior Kim Kilmer (Stoneham, Colo./Prairie) also picked up a win for Mines.

CSM (12-10, 3-5 RMAC) is slated to return to action on Thursday when it hosts Sterling College for a nonconference doubleheader beginning at 12:00 pm at CSM Field.
