CSM MEN'S BASKETBAL SIGNS SEAN ARMSTRONG TO LETTER OF INTENT

GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines Head Men's Basketball Coach Pryor Orser has announced the signing of Sean Armstrong (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs) to a National Letter of Intent on Thursday afternoon.

"We are please to have Sean Armstrong join our program," Orser said. "He comes from a rich basketball family and has been associated with the game for a long time. Sean is a versatile combo guard who can play the point or the shooting guard positions. He has great skills and a great understanding of the game."

"Sean's basketball common sense and basic feel for the game are his greatest attributes," Orser continued. "He is an extremely talented player who will join our heralded recruiting class that we have already signed."

This past season, the 6-foot-2 Armstrong led Blue Springs in scoring (20.8 ppg), rebounding (5.8 rpg), assists (4.1 apg) and steals (2.1 spg). He was also named to the all-tournament team in each of the three tournaments that his team participated in, the Blue Springs South McDonalds/Coca Cola Classic, the Joplin Kaminsky Classic and the William Jewell Holiday Classic. Armstrong, who scored 1,211 career points, was also named the MVP of the William Jewell Classic.

During his four years at Blue Springs, Armstrong was a two-time selection to the all-area, all-metro, first team all-district and first team Suburban Big Seven all-conference teams. He was a nominee for the Missouri Class 5 State Player of the Year honors and was invited to participate in the Missouri Hall of Fame State All-Star Game.

In addition to his career at Blue Springs, Armstrong was a member of the Kansas City Keys Nike AAU Team. The squad won the Missouri Valley Regional Championship four times and also qualified for the National AAU Tournament four times.

Armstrong, who is slated to major in civil engineering at CSM, carries a 3.875 grade point average and is in the top 15 percent of his class.

He is the son of Tony and Terre Armstrong, who were both four-year letterwinners at Missouri State University. In addition, his sister, Jenna, was a four-year letterwinner at the University of Iowa.
