CSM volleyball receives commitment from six

GOLDEN, Colo. - Six student-athletes have committed to begin playing volleyball for Colorado School of Mines in 2008, as announced today by Head Coach Jamie Skadeland.

"I am really looking forward to this freshman class coming in next fall," said Skadeland, who begins her first season as CSM's head coach in 2008 after serving as the assistant coach last fall. "They are all talented athletes with great attitudes and work ethics, and they will raise our competitive level providing depth in all positions."

Below is a complete list of the players who will begin competing for the Orediggers next fall.

Below are Skadeland's comments on each player.

Amanda Bauer: Amanda is going to be an essential part of our defense next season, and she is currently receiving excellent training from Front Range Volleyball Club to sharpen her defensive tactics. I'm really looking forward to Amanda's work ethic and mentality.

Grace Bol: Grace will offer good height and depth in the middle position. She is a hard worker and always plays with heart. Her competitive energy will be welcomed on this team.

Carisa Janzen: Carisa comes to CSM with one season of college experience already under her belt (redshirted as a true freshman at UC - Colorado Springs in 2007). Carisa will add depth to our outside position while also adding consistency in the passing lanes.

Amanda Massey: Amanda is going to be a double-threat for us offensively. Not only is she capable of running our offense, she also has the ability to put up a solid block and swing from the right side.

Kendra McFadden: Kendra possesses solid ball control and will add consistency on the defensive end. She has had competitive experience in the defensive position at the high school and club levels.

Amanda Paradisa: Amanda is a dynamic athlete who jumps well and has great strength behind her swing. She will bring energy to the floor and will always give 110%.
