MINES VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN FOUR AT CHADRON STATE CHADRON, Neb. - The Colorado School of Mines volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match at Chadron State on Friday night. The Orediggers won the first game, 31-29, but dropped the next three, 30-18, 30-15, 30-26. Sophomore setter Katherine Muterspaugh (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) recorded her third straight double-double in the loss with 45 assists and 13 digs. Leading the way for Mines was freshman middle blocker Nicole Leeper (Brighton, Colo./Brighton) who posted a .269 hitting percentage (11 kills, 4 errors, 26 attempts) and also amassed two digs. Junior outside hitter Samantha Bauer (Lakewood, Colo./Dubai UAE) led the team with 12 kills and six digs, while sophomore middle blocker Amanda Rebol (Fort Morgan, Colo./Fort Morgan) and sophomore outside hitter Caitlin Mabe (Lakewood, Colo./Denver Lutheran) each recorded 10 kills. Kelly Kraus led the Eagles (6-3, 1-0 RMAC) with 14 kills and a game-best 27 digs, while her sister, Shelly, added 46 assists, nine kills and eight digs. Mines (5-6, 0-2 RMAC) will return to action on Friday night when it travels to Fort Hays State for a 7:00 pm match. -- OREDIGGERS -- |
