MINES VOLLEYBALL FALLS AT FORT HAYS STATE, 3-0 HAYS, Kan. - The Colorado School of Mines volleyball team was dealt a 3-0 loss at 15th-ranked Fort Hays State in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Friday night at Gross Memorial Coliseum. Game scores were 30-17, 30-22, 30-22. CSM (5-7, 0-3 RMAC) was paced by freshman middle hitter Nicole Leeper (Brighton, Colo./Brighton) who posted a team-best 11 kills. Junior outside hitter Kelly Desens (Aurora, Colo./Overland) also reached double figures in kills with 10, while sophomore Katherine Muterspaugh (19) (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) and freshman Celeste Cashel (12) (Glenwood Springs, Colo./Glenwood Springs) combined for 31 assists. FHSU (11-1, 3-0 RMAC), which hit .354 for the match, was led by Amber Zoglman's 16 kill effort. Ahley Holt and Darshaya Mustacchio added 11 kills apiece, while Jayme Eichner handed out 47 assists and Kelly Skidmore produced a match-high 19 digs. Mines returns to action Saturday when it travels to Nebraska-Kearney for a 5:00 pm match. The Lopers are the top-ranked team in Division II. -- OREDIGGERS -- |
