CSM VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS CHADRON STATE, 3-1 GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines volleyball team knocked off Chadron State, 3-1, in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Friday night in Volk Gymnasium. Game scores were 30-18, 30-14, 30-32, 30-26. The win was the sixth over the last seven matches for the Orediggers. Leading four players in double digit kills for CSM was junior outside hitter Samantha Bauer (Lakewood, Colo./Dubai UAE) who amassed a match-best 16 to go along with five digs and two aces. Freshman middle blocker Nicole Leeper (Brighton, Colo./Brighton) tallied 12 kills, while sophomore middle hitter Amanda Rebol (Fort Morgan, Colo./Fort Morgan) and sophomore outside hitter Caitlin Mabe (Lakewood, Colo./Denver Lutheran) each had 11. Sophomore setter Katherine Muterspaugh (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) dished out 57 assists and registered 13 digs for a double-double, while junior libero Sarah Alsbrooks (Paola, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas) tallied a match and career-best 40 digs. The Eagles (11-13, 6-10 RMAC) were led by Alysia Wardyn's 12 kills. Dixie Dailey added eight kills and 13 digs, while Shelly Kraus dished out 32 assists and twin sister, Kelly, led the team with 26 digs. Mines (12-14, 7-10 RMAC) will return to action next Friday when it hosts 13th-ranked Fort Hays State at 7:00 pm in Volk Gymnasium. -- OREDIGGERS -- |
